Hi Mummyjj,
I stayed in 2bedded ward. Confinement food was great, Service of the nurses were good too!
Thumbs up for Mount A!
Sister Kang Pre-antenatal class was great..she encourage Breastfeeding! |

Hi, my wife just delivered in Mt A. In fact, as I am speaking, we are still waiting for baby to be able to discharge (using their free internet service on my laptop).
I cannot comment on the bills yet, as I will only know tomorrow upon discharge. As for the service, I must say they are excellent. They are very obliged to attend to you, when you call for them, big or small matters. My wife had difficulty with latching on (still practising), and had to call the same nurse in twice within half hour. She came in both times with a smile and seems to enjoy helping.
No complains about the service. Since now is the orange alert status for the swine flu, we seen through their upgrades from green (on day of admission) to yellow (second day of stay) till orange (today). Very impressed with their efficiency and courtesy to inform the patients of the various changes.
If we are having second kid, I think my wife will agree also, that we will come back to Mt A. Oh, we chose Mt A over TMC (my gynae only do these two) because of the delivery suite. My wife dun like the small suite in TMC over Mt A. No regrets till now, less probably nothing much to walk around when bored. Baby cannot stay with us now as she is undergoing jaundice UV treatment. |

Hi GG, yes they have tour. I will also go for Mt. A. My wife was staying in the single room, so I get a chance to stay overnight with her. To share with you, Mt. A has 2 wards.
The ward on the right is called the happy ward. They have a lot of Indian nurses in this ward. Try to get into this one.
These ladies are fun and very good. I called them the happiest ward.

i like the ward which Ultraman mentioned too...
last year when my ger was warded, coz the kids ward was full, they arranged for me to stay with her in this ward.
the nurses here are wonderful.. always very cheery, greeting me and my baby when i carry her to walk ard.
i forgot the nurses names but there is one who showered for my ger. She came and told me to rest, then she took my ger and showered her for me, w/o me asking her to! She took her time to give my ger a good n proper shower, gave me extra teats n glass bottles, sample milk powder to take home... v nice ladies! i was shocked that they are so dedicated to their work.
this time ard, i am gonna give birth in MAH.... instead of TMC where my #1 was delivered. |

I hav been to TMC once, me too hav the same feeling, inside the building is very cramp and they have a very inconvenient and lousy car park. My hubby complaint so much abt their car park. |

Yea, their valet parking system is horrible. And super expensive. Each time consultation there if long waiting time end up pay about $10 plus. And must wait for car to come from their underground carpark, at times take very long..Traffic around TMC is heavy too.. |

their billing is very confusing and nurses are prolly very busy thus are quite frazzled..
when i had #1, they took 1.5hrs to send me my ger coz they were changing shift.. and nursery is only on 3rd and 5th floor.
from what i heard from ladies in my edd thread, they seem to be pushing patients to take the suites by emphasizing how good the suites are, eg dvd player, bigger room, sofa bed, coffee/tea making facility.
their parking is horrid, always jam there, to U-turn when coming from thomson road can take 10mins... feel the way the building is very haphazard n life are slow, if there is a case of emergency eg fire.... i wonder what will happen.. :P

recently my godbrother's wife just gave birth at Mt A and she commented that the delivery room toilet was smelly and faulty. the mid wives were also quite rough. wondering if anyone has experienced these.

I have no idea why your godbrother's wife was in that kind of room.
The delivery suite that my wife was good is quite good. Everything was fine and the midwife was very gentle. Always there to encourage my wife. |

Hi
I just delivered at Mt A. 4 bedded ward. C-Section on 30th April. St Elizabeth ward. The nurses there is helpful n answer to your emergency call v fast n always have a smile on.
When my BB cant latch on they teach me for those past 2 days. Overall service thumbs up.
Bill: 4 bedded C-Section plus extra 1 day stay for my BB for jaundice UV . around S$ 4k plus. |

I recommand my gynae DR Babu. she is an experience female gynae. when i was 37 wk 2 days my weight drop n she suggest immediate c-section due to nutrient might be insufficient to the BB. When my BB was born, the nurse say BB low blood sugar.
I must say thank you for her immediate action. So that my BB can be safe for labour.
(Remark: Her stitches is good)

I gave birth recently at Mt A. Stayed in 1-bedder with hubby. I tried inducing for natural but unable to dilate, ended up c-section. Delivery Suite and toilet was very clean. I stayed in Our Ladies Ward and it was classy and clean. Toilet is excellent. The staff at Mt A are wonderful! Be it nurses / security guards, they are all friendly, attentive, caring and simply great! Carpark is a bliss as compared to TMC. Cost wise, total costing wih 1 bedder 3 days stay including PD's fees and Dr's operation fees is abt$6K+ and I'm only paying about $2.5K in cash (the rest paid by medisave). I will go back there again for delivery for my next child. |

She charge $1800 for the delivery fee.

I had given birth in MtA for both my kids. I really like the enviroment there as compare to TMC. I stayed in 2 bedded last Dec, and I paid abt $1.2k cash for C-sect. Most of the cash is paid to the Doc operation fee and BB doc.
The cash we paying most go to the gynea. As for hospital most r deducted from medisave. |

Hi Fitti,
Recently I was admitted to KKH for high fever, cough and running nose. 1 stay at KKH is enough for me... I will not want to go back there again!
Feel that the doctor there just want to earn your hard earn money..
I knew Im fine already but the doctor want me to stay for another 2more days! Also, I told him to remove the drip for me but he gave alot of excuse saying what if I vomitted again?
For goodness sake, drip is to prevent de-hydrated....and vomitting is part and parcel of the pregnancy... |

Also, when I told the doctor I want to be discharge, he agree but informed the nurse to discharge me at 5.30pm...
Hospital discharge after 1pm, the patient will need to pay extra for 1more day! I told the nurse no firmly, I want to discharge before 1pm.
Lastly, the toilet really stink!!! Yucks! |

I delivered at Mt A, although there was one occasion I discharged only at 3pm and was served lunch that day, they did not charge me for additional half a day so felt they were quite nice in that aspect... |

I delivered both my boys at Mt. A. No compliant. But, do be prepared you might get disturbances from your neighbour if you are not staying in single bedded ward. Cos you simply cant choose your neighbour, right. |

Hi all,
I delivered my boy at Mt A on 4 July'09. C-Sec with epidural, stay one nite in 2-beded room as all single room are fully occupied on that nite, transfered to single room on the next day and stay in single room for 2 nites with companion. Thier single room is quite spacious and comfortable.
The services there was good, all nurses are very nice and cheerful. Highly recomended.
My hospital bill and doctor charges as follows:
Hopital charges - 3,450.48
Gynae charges - 3,000.00
Doctor operation fee - 830.00
Baby package-maternity - 594.00
Baby doctor attendence fee- 572.00
Total charges = 8445.00
After deducting all claims from medisave, I still have to fork out cash abt 3.1K. |

Hi mummyjj & everyone,
Just wondering, if I opt for 1-bedded and they are out of 1-bedded and transfer me to stay at a 2-bedded room for 1 day and the rest of the stay transfer me back to a 1-bedded, will I still need to pay the rates of the 1-bedded room even though I have stayed in a 2-bedded for a night?
Also what if they put me in a 2-bedded room throughout my stay? Will I pay for the 2-bedded room cost or the 1-bedded that I have opt for initially?

If you take a 1-bedded package but stayed in a 2 bedded for one night, they will adjust the one-bedded package rate to account for that 2-bedded one night stay. How much exactly, I don't know. I think they got formula.
If you are unable to get a 1-bedded and stayed in the 2-bedded throughout then you are charged the 2-bedded package.
However, if they convert a 2-bedded room into a single room for you then you will be charged the 1-bedded package. |

Hi Jane,
My gynae is doctor Fong Yang, the charges is included delivery charges and attendence fee. I delivered my baby via c-Sec, mayb that's why he charge so high lor... I didn't ask my gynae why so expensive, bai seh leh... since he is good and very professional, and my baby is healty, I will just pay for it.

don't worry, they will charge you according to the type of room that you stay instead of the room that you opt.

Normally, we book the hospital [package with gynae, they will fax in to the hospital, then hospital will send you their package info and confirm the booking with you. |

ultraman, same ward as when I gave birth. You're right the nurses were so nice and friendly.
And if you end up with 2bed convert into 1bed, keep asking them for the 1bed.
I hesistated when a 1 bed became avail on my 2nd day there since I had to move all my things but it was worth it. Flat screen TV, enough space for visitors. Like hotel stay. |

If you stay at 2bedded on 1st night and sub 1 bedded on the next, they will deduct the room charge difference BUT for the maternity pkg, you will be billed based on 1 bedded rate.
BTW, just to let you know medisave max claim has been increased. So its additional savings.. |

You can get more information from your gynae's clinic.
For c-sect epi, under the old scheme, you can only claim up to $2750 + $450 (antenatal pkg)
But with the new increase, the maxi claim is $3950.
You keep the receipt of your antenatal bills and pass them to the hospital upon admission. (up to $450). They will do the rest for you.

I would highly recommend mount a . Their service is really excellent from the first I check in till the day I was discharge . I paid about 2500 cash and the rest by medisave for 1 bedded for elective c section - epidural. My gynae have done a good job - dr chua yang . I recovered the 2nd day of surgery and requested to go home early as i can walked by myself without any pain . By a week, I am able to walked and do house chore like I never undergo any surgery. I am really thankful to my gynae ,Dr Chua Yang for her excellent job . My stiches look nice and I am really impressed . |

good to know tat u are recovering well from csect down by dr chua yang. i m under her too. she is recommending me csec due to warts. still in a dilemma as to whether or not to go for csec. so the amt paid after medisave claim is 2.5k.
so u only stay 2 nite? |

Gave birth to both my kids in Mt A. Very good experience. Was in a 2-bedder for 1st child and my neighbours snored, so didn't get enough sleep. Recently gave birth to 2nd child and went for single bed, it was spacious and very clean. The nurses are great and food was delicious.
I'm with Dr Chen Chern Yi for both kids, she's really great! Still seeing her for regular women's health checkups.
2nd child - elect C with epi is around S$2.8K (after claims) |

There is an increase in medisave claim recently. Perhaps you want to check with you gynae the estimate cost.
I knw some gynae provide information of their estimate bill based on their patient recent claims.
Different gynae charges differently so its not easy to gauge how much you need. |

May I ask mummies who hv delivered in Mt A recently, what do they provide to you upon discharge?
In addition, Mt A has sent me a confirmation that I hv booked them for delivery through my gynae. However, I hv not selected my room type yet. When do I choose? Upon admission?

For baby: bath tub, receiving blanket, leftover diapers/wet wipes, Agnes B-lookalike diaper bag with various booklets in it, that's all I remember
Mother: Leftover pads if you use theirs, toiletries, that's all I think
I chose and booked my room about a month before birth and they will confirm your room type when doing admission. I didn't send the confirmation letter back to them. |

Yar ... quite stylo except for the labels of Nestle & Mt A. I snipped them off.
The nurse will ask you which formula you prefer. I had a c-section so milk didn't come fast enough for my hungry girl, so i supplemented with formula at night.
Think it's better to book the room just in case you give birth on a 'popular' day. You can always request for a change but subjected to availability. |

yes bt, it is still subject to availability on that very day itself. they are generally helpful and will do their best to accede to your request. i didn't have single room on first night (cos no more rooms) but they managed to do a transfer lateron. |

hihi,
i gave birth to my boy on 10 Oct 09. I opted for single bedded but it is fully occupied on my first nite. So they gave me double bedded. Nevertheless, I was transferred to single bedded on 2nd night. I was charged accordingly.
My experience with Mt A was very good. Nice staff, nice food and nice room. Will definitely go back if I have 2nd one. |

Hi all
I gave birth at Mt A and found it a pleasant experience. The nurses at the delivery ward were really cheerful, considering I was in labour at 2am! Those at the maternity wards were attentive to your needs. So I will definitely go there again to deliver my #2, who is due in Aug this year. |
