Elizabeth, Thanks! Seems like no extra discount from the usual price on this item.

Chapa, I attended Mt A parent craft classes with hubby during my #1 time. Forgot total how many classes, but 2 lessons are exercises that the couple can do together. To me, I think going to the class helps bring hubby to be more involved in the pregnancy cause unlike us, they don't experience any body changes/ feel bb movements & attending kinda 'mentally' prepare them for bb arrival. But for #2, most likely we won't attend cause need to spend more time with #1 before #2 arrives.

Hi all, long time never join the chatting! Hope everyone is doing good!

Had went to Netherlands to meet my hubby as he went for training for 2 months after joining new company. Luckily everything was quite smooth and had a nice trip there. :-)

We bought our zapp xtra there. Super good buy, with VAT refund and the 15% discount (this is a display set as out of stock), we got it at ard SGD220! But it got quite a few scratches as we checked in when bringing it back. Quite heart pain as it supposed to be new but now looks like used...:-(

I had my detail scan at Mt A, it costs SGD88.80. A nice number yah!

I have signed up for the childbirth course at mt A. Unable to review now as classes yet to start. But I think is good for first timers. The price ranges from 180 to 210+ depending on weekday or weekend, with 10% if u have their ladies card.

The scan at mt A looks cheaper than TMC. I wasn't given any option. My doc just refer to TMC

Val: laughing gas is charge inside the hospital package. Epidural is additional charge.

Elizabeth: enjoy your class. I attended Mrs. Wong's class for #1.

Mini22: yah! Expo was soooo crowded yesterday. The queue just to get into the Carpark was madness!!! Btw, to all mummies going down today, pls. Be extra careful of your belongings. I was there with #1. Suddenly I feel someone behind me opening my bag and I quickly swing my bag to the front. Saw my bag zip was 1/3 opened, can almost take out my wallet and phone. Lucky nothing was lost!!!!
Be careful especially they see us pregnant and with kid, more easy target.

Baby,

That's scary about the near-theft incident. I was there yesterday too. You'd think the thieves wouldn't target pregnant ladies like us. Ha!

I didn't buy much! Bought Ergo baby teething pads, medela bottles, 3 for $10 t-shirts and some story books for my #1. Wanted to get some mittens but couldn't find anything I like that's worth the money. There're always more sales, e.g. Taka fair in July!

hi,

anyone looking for day nanny? i have a nanny looking for day care confinement. she is very experienced. trained with the hospitals in singapore. from malaysia. normal rates. no exorbitant rip-offs. PM me asap as all the annies are taken up quickly this year.

she is also looking for live-in confinement, so let me know if you need live-in or day care only.

i am not an agent and not related to any nanny. i am not making a single cent from recommendations. just want to help out and to save people from companies like PEM ripping people off.

thanks

Hi,

seems like there's a lot of interest in the Britax B-Agile stroller. I did a review of the stroller but the thread seems to have disappeared.

It is an excellent stroller. If there is a request for the review of the stroller, I am happy to write it again.

For those who want to get the stroller, this is the information you need.

1) are you looking for the 3-wheel of 4-wheel?
3-wheel is USA version.
4-wheel is UK version.

2) the 3-wheel i bought at wholesale price but the wholesaler said they will not bring in anymore 3-wheel.
the 4-wheel you can get from robinson.
the 3-wheel you can get from paragon (the first few years on level 5)

3) robinson and paragon sell at retail prices which is about $500 for the stroller alone - no car seat or attachments. but it is a very sturdy vehicle and should last a long time.

4) the 4-wheel is heavier than the 3-wheel.

let me know if you need more info.

thanks

Hi..
Anybody attend Mrs Wong classes (Ang Mo Kio hub) which start yesterday? It's fun, learn a lots..

Elizabeth Pan.. I also want to buy combi. Still haven't decided yet between Miracle Turn or Urban Walker. Cos everything has good and bad.
Miracle turn :
+ very compact when close position
+ automatic wheel turn
+ nicer color
- heavier
- basket is not easy to access when baby sleeping position
- more exp sgd 150
You can consider urban walker too. Let me know if have any cheaper promotion for combi :-)

Went to expo today.. So sad no more stock for all new born pampers.

Morning MTBs!
What a start to the week, raining everywhere, geez!

Trying to catch up, sorry for being away but my ear is much better now. Thanks for the the concern!

agaga - I spent around 300+ too, the damage caused by 3cents cotton bud, ugh! Now that it has almost heal, sometimes it itch, and I really BTH feel like diggin again, lol! But have to control loh...

Constance - EDD too far apart leh, we cannot do baby swaps, hahahahahah! Btw what is a nipple puncher huh?

Yean - Definately my pleasure to be able to update the list for all you Mums here Thanks for being appreciative too, you're sweet!

Quinn - PISA has adjustable speed/vacuum dial that lets Mom choose her most comfortable setting.

Azcutiegal - We're just the opposite of you. Debated much about boy names, it was so close, now we have to pick out a girl's name, lol! But thank God somehow in my list, I had 1 unisex name, hurhurhur!

SharonK - Maybe we should all start debating baby names HERE, then go home & fight with HB, lol! Btw I think Raphael is a nice name, with nice meaning, are you a Christian?

RE: Chinese Names, both HB and I are having trouble picking out names, cause we are kinda both mandarin illiterate, lol! I wondered if anyone here is going to have their baby chinese names "calculated" instead?

MTBs, please check your details.

P/S: For better group control, I have added a new columm "FB" - for those that wish to be added into the FB group please provide FULL name, emaill address and ensure you are 'SEARCHABLE' on FB in order for our Admin (Novembaby & Serenelm) to locate you.

Btw. FB page is very active these days - we would also like to continue to promote so. As each individual member would continue to make efforts to double post here & there, we would also like to recommend the MTBs to check out the FB page in order to have faster news update (on sales & expo field reports, etc...) Well, 1 of our admin, Novembaby created the page, so let us make her effort worthwhile by putting it to use! Cheers!

Serene: Yes, is our first baby so I'm quite worried about handling baby for the first time. -_- Will be attending classes, hope will get us prepared in some ways. Hubby will be on leave for the 1st 2 weeks so I guess still not too bad, just that he doesn't know how to cook. Can you share (PM) with me the confinement dishes recipes if you still have it with you? I bought confinement dishes recipes from popular fair but realise no much greens in confinement dishes, all just meats... ><

raspy: thanks for sharing with me your experience. :-) Is your CL good? We are considering to hire day time CL (trained by TMC) but the price is like no much lower than a stay in CL.

hi,
i think you will find that the rates for day care only and live-in are the same.
i am not an agent so i don't set the rates. it is more based on market rates. so the rates change depending on season, etc...
the day care only nanny has to find somewhere to live and pay for her transport and meals, so the rates for day care is the same as for live-in. this is from what i heard.
currently PEM will charge you $1000 deposit and about $2000 for the nanny, so $3000 in total.
the nannies i know, do not work for agents as most of them used to work for GPLS but it is now closed down.
they charge around $2200 flat rate. usually you need to pay a deposit of up to $500 to secure the nanny.

let me know your edd, area of your flat/house and whether you want live-in or day only.

every nanny is different. who i recommend may or may not be what you imagine is a good or bad nanny. it is very subjective.
the nanny i recommend has been good so far with cooking and minding baby, so i have no complaints, so i am suggesting she could be helpful to you. personalities are different and you may or may not get on with the individual. in the end, it is up to you and the nanny to get along... i am only suggesting the nanny based on her experience and service.

i'll get the nanny to ring you if you PM me your number, area of living, edd.
thanks

Yam: Do u use Facebook? If yes, you can join our FB Oct group, there're a few confinement recipes that we posted there previously. For veg, I just cook as per normal, just that I avoid "cooling" veg like kangkong, cabbage etc. But i know some ppl do add 1-2 slices of ginger when they're stir frying veg dishes to make it less "liang".

Hi Esther - welcome ! I m also seeing dr sim n first Time MTB.

To those who asked (I'm using iPhone so I forgot who asked for what info by d time I scroll to d box to write lol)

On Prenatal classes - I hv signed up for Tmc ones starting his weekend by mrs Wong.

On cl - I hv booked a free lance cl earlier, price quoted $2300 live in for 28 days, deposit required $300. Prices vary n depends on how early u book I think

On combi stroller - miracle turn is supposed to b combi premium product, more exp than urban walker . Urban walker when u reverse d handle , is difficult to turn becos od d wheels , miracle turn doesn't hv d problem. Both close with one hand without bending- kudos to d Japanese for inventing that !!

Hi Btil and rach! Glad to know we share the same gynae ;)

Rach, how did ur edd move forward? Based on my LMP, the online calculator and my GP gave my edd as 20 Oct, but Dr Sim gave my ultrasound edd as 18 Oct and so far I've seen Dr Sim 4 times and my edd no change. My colleague's edd is 13 Oct, 5 days earlier than me but her LMP date is almost 2 weeks earlier than mine...

Btw, i've signed on package at Dr Sim's clinic. Last month when the clinic tried to book my appt for my wk 20 detailed scan, TMC diagnostic centre was fully booked and I had to do walk in :-( the clinic staff told me Dr Sim has more than 50 edds in Sep 12 and this year being a peak year Dr Sim only does deliveries at TMC, the clinic staff said they haven't counted Dr Sim's edds for Oct 12, I'm hoping to get a single or double wards, I'm worried that TMC is so packed cos most gynaes at TMC may be just delivering at TMC this year that I may not be able to get a ward I want, any advice?

Serene, my e-mail address is hanif22502@yahoo.com.sg, tks :-)

I've been reading some of the older posts to catch up :p

Read that some MTBs here have been taking bird nest. Seems like 1 table spoon concentrated bird nest in the morning is the norm? Do you still supplement with boiled bird nest? May I know how much to consume and which part of the pregnancy to consume, I think someone mentioned that TCM advised between week 17 to 34 as this is the period that the baby is developing the lungs. Does it mean not advisable to consume all the way to delivery? Any recommendations where to buy bird nest for concentrated and boil versions and any recipe for boil version?

Also read that taking spicy food baby may be hot tempered, oh no, my hb noticed that I didn't used to take well to spicy food but I've been taking lotsa spicy food during my pregnancy :P

Though I'd MS during my 1st trimester, I didn't puke and have gained 7kg to-date eating sugary and junk food and carbs to relieve my MS, but I still don't look preggie, instead I look fat and rarely people give way/ seat to me at MRT :-( maybe partly also cos i've not really progressed to maternity wear and still wearing some of my usual shift/ balloon dresses and blouses which are stretchier...Hope I'll be able to lose the weight after birth...anyone here doing pre and post natal massages? any recommendations?

Also read about breech position... I noticed that my baby has been in breech position since my 1st gynae appointment, was a bit worried as both my hb and I were borned breech positions so I was wondering if this can be hereditary, I asked my gynae during my week 20 chk up and she said it's normal at this stage and baby will turn later, I hope I will have natural birth and a smooth one...

I've been feeling my baby moving alot and tonite i felt the kicks quite low, not sure if kicks or hiccups but it feels reassuring to feel the baby's movements :-) anyone here heard of or using baby plus? Just wondering what's your views, tks and sorry for the long post :P

Im going to You Long Zi to calculate the chinese names. I think nowadays parents will go and calculate baby chinese names to have e perfect element combination and strokes depending on their ba zi.

Esther: Difficult to have a name that both will like it. So we shortlisted afew and narrow to 2 now. You can go online and search for boy names and meaning. There is iphone apps too. you can dl e application.

Sharon: I had searched thinkbabynames.com and repeated from A to Z a few times, and still can't find any names that I like both the sound and meaning. I have settled on the Chinese name, and my FIL has approved it, he knows abit on calculating Chinese names. I'm even contemplating not to have an English name since we're not Christians. Which websites and apps did you search?

is it normal for morning sickness/nausea to come back in the 23rd week?
I keep having fainting spells in the train, threw up last week, and yesterday it happened again.
Can't sleep well at night too.

I am using Combi Miracle turn for #1. It is very easy to move around even forward facing.
But my stroller is really under utilise as I prefer to use carrier.

Chinese Naming: #1 we went to Huaxia Taimaobi so #2 shld be the same bah!

English Naming: Even before #1 was borned, we already thot and love a Boy's name. Till #2 also no chance to use. So sad!!! (T_T)

Still don't have eng name for baby. Chinese name tentatively but he's gonna hate me cause a lot of strokes. I named my First boy after a Spanish footballer whom I think is cute. Hehehe.. So time for me to watch soccer again. My first boy's Chinese name is a close translation of his eng name

Hi Esther Bong, no need to worry about your weight, like yourself I already gain so much weight, went to visit my gynae yesterday and total I already gain 11kg in 23 weeks. As long as baby grow normal and healthy, I don't mind to gain many weights :-)

Hi sharonk, me and my hubby also looking for girl baby name now and Tiffany is also in our list :D but still there are a lot of cute girl baby names there, have to choose one soon..

reineluv, I think it's normal. I was almost fainted also last weekend. It happened often I read from book that during week 20weeks+ our blood pressure will be lower than usual, so chance to get fainted is bigger. It is better now to take everything slowly and go out on hot weather.

reineluv,
I also experience slight giddy spell and MS. I have a tendency to throw up a bit of whatever I eat. In my 20 weeks now.

Re Stroller,
I used Combi Urban Walker and Aprica Stick for #1. Combi Urban Walker is easy to open and close but when close up, its still quite bulky. Also, when using the reverse( i.e. baby facing you), its not easy to manoveur.

Chinese Name,
We went to a website call "clickfate" or something like that. You just need to input your baby Date and Time of Birth and they will churn out a list of names suitable. We just based on that to select the Chinese name for my gal. Prob going to do the same for #2.

To all mommies,

Need your advice, share and experience...
continue to my post last Friday, I met my gynae yesterday and he shared the result of my detail scan. He said baby is healthy and normal. Then, he remembered that I gave him an emergency call last Thursday night about my blood spot. He checked me and there is still some brownish discharge in my panty liner . He took a sample of the blood and will send it to the lab to check. He said this case is very unusual, the baby and my vaginal is ok, do not know where the blood comes from.

Me and my husband really worry, until today I still can see the blood spot (still brownish colour with blood smell). I am confused and really wonder if we should look for other gynae to consult...

Did you mummy heard similar experience before?
Thanks.

Morning Mummies

Reineluv, I also experienced giddy spell for the past week. Especially when I turned my head to the right side at lying down position or when I look up/down. My gynae said cause more blood is generated to the bb now, the circulation might be slower, so his advise was to move slow and not react too fast. Another reason could also be due to low blood pressure from preg. Meanwhile, I tried not to turn my head right when lying down or move my head very slowly. heehee

Motion sickness? Hmm, could be. I realised it only happens when I take NEL line. hahaha

Wenty
Looks like happening to a lot of mummies. I see my friends all so smooth sailing, wondering why I so kor mia. hahha
Btw, did you did another Ultrasound after the detailed scan? Maybe just get the gynae to check again to make sure baby is ok? If you don't feel right, always get a 2nd opinion.

Meredith
Like very cham hor. That day I threw up gastric juice. That was after I had breakfast. I heard 3rd Trim is worse. :-(

raspy
I notice I get the spells when I look up, so I should try to move slower? But when I'm on the train seated down, I don't really move. I can only attribute it to stuffy air on the train? haha

Wenty> that time my SIL had brownish discharge is in T3, when she "overwalked" or "tired" out during that week, and was asked to rest 1 week at home. Did you move about over the weekend or carry stuff? That time when I had spotting in T1 for #1, when my spotting stopped I went out for dinner and it came back! Was scolded by my gynae and I guai guai rest at home after that, dont dare to go out. Since your gynae had sent blood sample for testing, they will be able to give you better advice and treatment if necessary. I suggest you to ask your gynae for MC to rest at home if you still have spotting. Sometimes stress may also cause spotting. Did he give you any medication?

Hi mummywong10,the Gynae did say it will go away over weeks and tt since I'm low risk for my down syndrome test,I do not have to worry abt it. Did check out forums too and was already not worrying abt it alrd until yesterday,my FIL ask my hubby to pray to guan yin and ask her to bless our son everyday to be healthy and all these worries come back again. :-(

SJ's Mummy> Being parents, we are always sure to worry no matter what. I think your FIL meant well, he just want to pray for your baby safety/health, dont treat it negatively. Since gynae also give you advice that it's not so bad case, try not to think so much, when you are in bad mood, the baby will feel it. Or maybe if you are still very worried, go for alternative opinion?

Sharon: Before my baby gender was confirmed, I looked at girl names n I wanted Kayla n Chinese name that rhymes. I also like Coco cos I was at an infatuation phase with the longchamp leather le pliage collection n e bubbly model Coco Rocha in e tv advert :p

Wenty: tks, agree that e weight gain is nothing if baby healthy :-)

Rach: cos of e scaring by dr sim's clinic staff of long wait, I reached e diagnostic ctr at 7.45am! I was first to be seen by sonographer (mine was Nicole seah n i think she's gd, she turned e monitor towards me n explained to me throughout n talked to my baby, even my baby seemed to like her n cooperated throughout :-) unlike my Oscar scan). I got my report n was waiting at dr sim's clinic by 8.45am! E clinic staff shared that other patients who walk in waited till noon...

SJ's Mummy: hope the bubbles will go away by ur next scan...

Regarding the Medela breast pump, my sister who gave birth last year will pass me her Medela freestyle breast pump, I asked her what's the diff with say Avent, she said she saw on Internet that Avent manual can yield more milk than Medela freestyle but the gd thing about Medela freestyle is that you can attach to bra and just pump freestyle (no hands required) then you have free hands to do other stuff, she said I would have to buy accessories like breast shields and spare parts and gave me a url at this forum (I haven't checked it out though, just started to get my act together to prepare for baby's arrival :-():

sharonk, it was a lot last Thursday night, then continually subsided for a few days, but still it made me worry everytime I go to toilet.. >.<

reineluv, No, I did not have ultrasound yesterday, doctor said no need, coz too closed, just had detail scan last week, no need to scan again..

mummywong10, no, gynae did not give me any medication, he only said dont worry, but I do feel tired these few days, maybe will take MC or work from home.

Have been browsing about this topic in internet and looks like a lot of woman out there been encountering the same thing.. as long as there is no contraction and fresh blood discharge, everything should be ok..

Elizabeth: so far I can handle the stroller by my own. It weigh around 5.8kg, consider light for stroller that can be used since newborn. Most important, it is easily to turn around especially when forward facing.

Dear mummies,
Sorry to interrupt.
I am from Mtb Jan 2012.
I have a medela pump in style advanced (Pisa) tote bag; US imported set tote bag for sale.

Bought it in Jan 2012 and letting it go now (quite new) because I'm going back work and my job nature doesn't allow me to pump regularly. Latch on more often than pump since home all these while.

The set includes :
Stylish shoulder bag design
A/C adapter & Battery Pak (8AA batteries not included)
Removable cooler carrier
4 collection containers & lids
(1 brand new-totally unused)
2-24mm PersonalFit™ Breastshields (used)
Breastfeeding Information Guide
2 valves (used)
4 membranes(2 brand new)
Cooling element
Instructions

In addition, i will be giving the following
 - a Transformer for PISA $60 (For PISA after 2008) – 3 pin, power is as good as item 23 the original adaptor. Recommended for US PISA 9V. Direct from Singapore power socket to medela pump from
mega babies store because the original charger and adapter is too bulky
-1/4 bag of sacred tea ( for mummies who want to try if it works for them)
-40 pieces of pigeon breast pads (unsed)
-2 boxes of Nanny Storage Bags
S$11.00 Quantity: 25 bags per box, Capacity: 6 oz or 170 ml

Do PM me or email me at take_my_pic@yahoo.com.sg for pics, details and price!

Thanks!

Re: getting seats on public transport
Just to share my experience with no. 1.. Even when I was 8 mths preggie and days before I gave birth ppl can still ignore me on the bus. Some more my ride to work was a long one, abt 40mins bus ride and since it goes thru the expressway there are not many stops. So be prepared for more of such behavior from people. My female ex-coll can even tell me that since others pay the same bus fare as me i shouldnt expect them to give their seats to me :/ Having said that there are of course nice ppl out there. But I guess the bad experience outweighs the good. Hehe

Same here. Not many pple give seat to me.

Not that we lazy, just that we need to be more careful in case the train or bus brakes.

Quite sad that Singapore has turned into such a society.

Regarding giving seats, so far I have experienced many nice ppls who willing give up the seat for me. A gentleman even helped me to ask the person who is sitting give up the seat for me. Can be quite touch on this little gesture. But usually if I feel ok, I don't mind to stand for a while so I choose stand far from the seats.

Regarding bra, just sharing that I bought bra extension from CK department store (sgd 1 per pc) and I find it quite useful as my bra cup is still ok but I feel tight on the side.
