it is going to be difficult to claim your maternity leave when you are not employed. Usually, the co will need you to work at least 3 mths before you go on ML before you can claim the full ML. However, if you are earning money like being a self-employed (u know pple like insurance agents, housing agents), you can actually claim 2 mths of maternity leave from the govt. But you need to have evidence to show that you have been earning money before you give birth. I dunno how they are going to calculate but i guess is based on the monthly average salary you drawing and then they reimburse you the 2 mths. But one drawback is that you are also subjected to tax cos you have shown that you are earning money as a self-employed. so when you declare your tax, must also declare the same amt when you do for your maternity leave. |
