Hi helpme,

I didn't use Dr Peter Wang, but I would highly recommend my anesthetist, Dr Dicky Tay. He was very professional, and I didn't feel any pain when he inserted the epidural needle.

Hi

Just came and pop by this thread.. it's been more than a mth since I gave birth at GlenE

happy to report that GlenE is a super experience... Also i think it doesnt cost much more than TMC or Mt A. I got a single rm and Hb bunked in, just like Isabelle's Mum said... $75 included everything...meals and all.

Best is that we paid for single room but was given a double rm so hb cld sleep on a proper bed instead of sofa couch... think he really needed the rest after my 22hr labour.

The nurses ar 6W are really fantastic. The svc is good and they are so warm and friendly tt I felt so well taken care of and special. Also got an LC visit first thing in the morning after the Doctor rounds by PD and Gynae. She gave me good advice but actually the Nurse taking care of me already taught me so much abt latching etc even before her morn visit. In fact all the staff and nurses were very well versed with breastfeeding so it was easy for me to kn wht to do. So it's no regrets absolutely for GlenE.

Helpme- no need to tell them u want to breastfeed, they will auto bring bb to u at the ward and ask u first wht u want.

i heard tt Dr Dicky tay is v good but my doc did not use him...

I gave birth at GlenE two weeks ago, had a great experience in 6W too. We paid for single room and my hubby slept in the couch, we didnt get upgraded. Everyone from the nurses to waitress were super friendly. LC turned up on Day2, however the nurse had already taught me latching the night before.
My anesthetist was Keith Png, very nice and friendly guy. Fantastic overall experience.

Hi LavenderBear,
Mind sharing with me how much you pay in total and how many days did you stay in hospital? The 6W is the newly renovated ward right? How early did you book for the 6W? Usually it's always fully book right since those rooms are newly renovated as compare to the 5th floor.

Hi,

MY delivery was natural with Epi (2 bottles) and forceps. 3 days, 2 nights. Total $7200. Total Dr Chan's bill was $3488. As for hospital part, it is according to the cost sheet that they provided during pre admission.

Hi mummies,

I just delivered at gleneagles 3 months ago. Enjoyed the experience . The nurses were all really nice esp my midwife! made the whole process a less scary one as its my first baby! They have just introduced the free limou service to send u back home and new confinement food menu! food was great! They were quite patient and taught me how to breastfeed.. the lactation nurse kepy coming back to make sure I was doing it the proper way!

My delivery was natural with 1 epi.. total bill for 3 days 2 nights (single room) was approx $6200.

Hi Tasha,
Mind sharing with me how come your natural delivery with epi cost you $6200? Thought std package for 3 days 2 night was $2k+. Understand that it'll definitely exceed the package amt, but it shouldn't exceed by so much.

HI, mummies.
I was a quiet reader here till I saw Veron bad experience. Here I want share my bad experience too.

I was gave birth my no 3 in GE last Oct (2009), my previous 2 (2001) and (2003) also born in GE. Though the previous GE (before renovated) was not a nice as now, but the service is better than what I experienced recently. This time, my stay in the hospital was not as pleasant as before. from the Nursery nurse, baby doctor, and even the senior nurse. I thought I was not in the correct time or was out of luck...:-(

I was admit on 8/10/09 and c-sec on 5pm onwards. The next day my baby doctor (different from my gynae appointed) came and tell me my baby was okay and i asked about his jaundcie level. He said not to worry and I felt at ease because i really wished baby to come home together with me on the same day. And the next day again, baby doctor (change to another doctor again) came and said baby doing well and i asked about the jaundice again...and again not to worry.

scenerio 1 : the next day again which is my discharged day and also the horror day that i won't forget at all. It was Sunday and early in the morning about 8 plus the baby doctor came (another doctor again)told me all the bull**** that baby is well and ready to be discharged. But, half an hour later the nurse came and told me diff story... she said they just took baby's blood sample to test whether he had jaundice or not and we are to be advised to wait for the report. and, it end up.. baby must be retained because the jaundice level was above the 1 that allowed.

What made me angry is because everyday the paed came and i asked about baby's jaundice..they (3 days was 3 diff baby doctor) said okay and not to worry, but why came to discharged time.. they said baby was not allowed to go home based on the blood test. and when we demand the report test (wanted to show to a relative who is a gp), they can't produced the report and even said it was only verbally report... it made my blood boil..
note: fyi, all the mothers discharged on that day (i never checked how many).. the babies all retained include mine and only 1 baby was allowed to go home together with the mum

scenario 2 : when my gynae ( dr.CW.Fong) already signed for my discharged... the senior nurse ( i didn't remember the name), gave me a discharge form to sign.. wah lau, it was not my name with my bed no. and the signature already there. It was my neighour's bed which is admit and discharged on the same day, but with the diff gynae. Lucky, I checked all the name and not blindly sign. As, I was not taking any medicine home, but my neighbour full of medicine. Can't imagine if I really signed that form and took all the medicine that I suppose not to and vice verse????

scenerio 3: my baby was discharged the next day (monday), and lots of parents were queuing outside to fetch the baby. hubby was told to settle the payment and bring up the receipt to show to the nursery nurse then they will change the baby clothes and pass to us. after my hubby show the receipt and i passed the clothes to the nurse and wait outside for almost an hour, then i asked the nurse (senior nursery nurse which had black face all the time). She just simply told me in a rude tone. Can you wait awhile as you can see there was lots of babies discharge today? I angrily told her off... I AM HERE FOR FEW HOURS AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN SETTLED FROM THE HOSPITAL BILL AND ALMOST 1 HOUR SINCE I PASS YOU THE BABY CLOTH FOR CHANGE. UP TILL NOW, I HAVEN'T GET MY BABY. Then, she shocked and went in to check again and bring my baby out. And, the episode haven't end yet. The baby mitten was left 1 side when baby was out and told her politely to look for me whether fall inside the nursery room or not, but instead to help me and she didn't bother to check, she kept argued and denied.. afterall, i checked again and again and I am very sure that i passed her a pair but come out only 1 side in baby hand.. Furious.. i asked another nurse to help and within a minute she came out with another side of the mitten.. and that was shut her mouth of.

I really out of luck and fed up with the service this time, if not for my gynae..i won't be using the hospital service anymore.. :-(

Hi moomoomum,

I can understand your frustration. I encountered the same scenerio as you too.. that is I was told by the PD (but it's the same one for the 3 days i was hospitalised), that my bb doesnt have jaundice.. but when it came to my discharged time and he said my girl has jaundice and was told to stay for another day.. but i heard it's quite normal for bb to develop jaundice a few days after birth.. so we didnt question too much too. but did you ask why are there different PDs everyday?
