Hi Missy, I wrote to the principal yesterday and she proposed to appeal to mcys for an extra slot for their morning class as they had met their student quota for AM class already. We decided to appeal. Hopefully it will be approved and hy can start class from 9am onwards til 12.30pm after the mcys's reply in a week's time. |

jac, Thanks for the feedback.. we had to forgo this show this time round. Need to go around hunting for Bree's pre-school. we are finding it a challenge for us to do it while hubs is in town and trying to slot in timings to avoid her current classes. We did registered for one but the waitlist is very long.. so we are doing Plan B, Sourcing for option B & C.. Sigh... headache.. |

Musicbox, My boy just start with GUG at United Square few weeks back, so far he enjoy the class, but think once he finish all the letter from A-Z phonics will stop him le. As my #1 also attended enrichment class there 2 yrs back, so we know when we should stop my boy this time round. They will repeat the same thing after every round, so no point to keep him there for long. Misscandy, There is this Hope Community near your place my hubby just went to register my girl for next year K2. Heard he says the nursery is like hot cake, a lot of parents very early went to Q up to register, he say by the time he reach Nursery all fill up liao. Have U thought of letting your girl register there for nursery? U can visit them, think not bad. |

Hi Jasmine, Thanks for the info, i've called GUG last week, their cost is quite expensive, I think is about $360+ per mth, and no trial. Maybe i'll try out this Zoophonics at serangoon, later might go over to take a look. |

Misicbox, Hummm... We paid for 1 term leh not in per month wor?? Ours is once a week type. Oh now they dont have trial?? 2 weeks back the class my son attend got people come for trial leh. They only have trial if the class got less kids on that week ba I think. Actually I also ever consider on Zoophonics but my elder girl attended GUG so we stick back to GUG for my boy. Missycandy, Oh U looking for CC. So Your mum can be more free during the day? |

This time round not hiring a indo maid. We went for a philipino maid instead. As indo side block most of the maids from coming in. Actually we choose 1 indo. maid in end Jan, end up the stupid agent only let us know end Feb that the maid is block to enter singapore by indo side. So we switch agent and our options is to go for philipino instead of indo. maid sigh.... from got time till no maid... |

janbebe, Oh your maid also going home? Not returning? Musicbox, Oh U try see how is it. Yours at Serangoon? Is it cheaper for zoophonics than GUG?? Toilet train: My girl now 4 yrs old plus. She started to refuse diaper at night when she is 3.5yrs old. Day time she will sleep without which is ok for her as her nap time normally is 2hrs plus. As for night 1st few nights she ok can wake up and say want to pee, but after that she didnt and we start to worry she pee on the bed so we started getting up and pull her to sit on potty which we place in our room. On off she will pee on mattress and I quickly order the single bed waterproof protector sigh.... Now we decide to use pulls up on her just incase, we still get her to pee at night and tell her must ask if she wants to pee. No choice if not the mattress will be dam stinks! |

janbebe, U only have 1 child, me have 2, so do without a maid le. my girl ah, squeeze with daddy on another single mattress lor, haha hubby mattress also gana before, he miss position the waterproof protector, so gana also. At 1st I only have the babysafe cot waterproof protector which only cover part of the mattress, thinking make do with it 1st, mattress gana once so sun it under the sun and buy the anti-bacti spray to spray lor. Than I order from BP the single bedded mattress protector U can refer to this BP: http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/581296/5158330.html?1299710375 |

kEe is totally not toilet trained tho when I ask him to pee, he can but is willin to do so on the toilet floor only during showerr times... Gesh looks like more money on diapers in the meantime. 3 weeks more till I pop #2, quite happy I managed to settle kee into his own bedroom to sleep by himself last week (success in 5 days). Now he knows if he wants to look for us for milk etc he just walks over fm next door. So now at least when #2 cries, she won't affect him in the next room. Hopefully this will minimize both waking up in the middle of the night. Right now still gotto open& assemble the cot, wash baby clothes, buy confinement herbs...but no sign of BH contractions yet so should have time ;) |

Sharlin had popped on 17 April (Sunday). Baby Kaiser is 5.43kg! Congrats to her and family. Very adorable baby boy. Btw mummies, how do you wash yr kiddos' hair? Hy is super scared of water going into his eyes. What we do now is shampoo his hair then use a wet towel and kept wiping the shampoo to the back of his head til it's clean. Even if we placed a towel on his eyes to block out water, he'll cry and cling on to you. |

Strawberrys79 ... 5.43kg??? You can consider getting this thing that he can wear on his head to prevent water flowing down his face. Its like a hat with just the brim ... can find in kiddy palace. But meanwhile play with him water and let him get use to water flowing down his face =p |

Thanks Teddy, yes Kee is in full day CC and he likes it there. He w come home and tell me about this girl called Emma ;))) as for him sleeping in own room, I just accompany for first 3 nights, by 5th night I don't accompany him anymore and he's ok. So now after milk at 10pm and brush teeth, I just tuck him in and walk back to my room next door without accompanying him. But I do leave the kitchen light on so he can see if he wants to come next door to look for us to ask for milk etc |

That's a huge baby! This time gynae says this bb gal is looking much smaller size than korkor, so far at 37+ weeks only 2.7kg so I guess maybe coz all the stress of movi g house, falling sick constantly w cold & cough really has an effect, yesterday's checkup I lost another 800g, while bb only gained 100g in the 10days despite all the durians I tried to take... Guess last min not much help already....oh well |

Eh, i seldom post here, but seeing the baby weight really shock me..... wah, 5.43kg, is that a national breaking record? I remember the last time there's one mummy given birth at more than 4kg on TV news, was it her? haha! 57cm is also pretty long, next time will be a handsome tall baby like the Korean drama! Looks like many given birth to second one already, my boy now is 5 mth old, is a challenging life having 2! Good luck to all! |

Congrats to all mummies who have given birth or are going to give birth to no.2 soon. Anyone gunning for No.3? Haha, if not, what contraceptive are you taking? I thought of putting the ring but am wary of the side effects. Anyone can share? But come to think of it, I should be wary of getting preggy again instead of the side effects right? |

Hi scrumpee & prosper, thanks for the jiayou ;) this time was pretty smooth sailing; here's some deja vu for us all ;) 11.55pm at 'show' panic for a while coz didnt expect her at 38weeks coz Kee was 40weeks max, stunned & called my mum 12.30 my parents arrived to bring kee home for a few days while i m in hospital. I showered, packed & set off, contractions every 5-7mins 1.30am - sent straiggt to labour ward, 2cm dilated 3am - 5 cm , hoping bb dont come fast & furious coz this means nurse have to call gynae from home and not sure how fast he can get here. Contractions hurting to the spine, asked for Epi. 3.30am - epi given, Relief! Fell asleep, no feelings except for pins & needles 8am - fully dilated, gynae arrived as usual for work, came in, poke water bag & can see baby's crown. Gave 3 gentle push, 8.30am - princess K arrived And now, my life as a cow starts again...... |

Hi March 2009 moms, Time truly flies...just glance thru n thot of saying hi... 1stly, many congrats for those popping #2... 2nd, I c some mom asking abt learning in Zoophonics / GUG / Montessori... My boi I'd currently in Zoophonics Serangoon...of e three, ZP is e most value for $$$ but I oso notice many moms use this as a steppin stone b4 their children r ready for pre nursery...e curriculum is typical w storytelling, activities n songs but my personal take is e chers could b more engaging w e little tots n b less focused on delivering too much stuff within 1.5hrs. GUG does phonics w more focusedness...i hav a friend who attended their trial class n felt that they hav better classroom mgt as compared to ZP...but lesser lessons w a higher fee... Montessori...e authentic ones require u on a waiting list n yes, long wait... In a nutshell, different strokes for different folks... Come 2012, my boi will b in a church kindie so now transiting bet ZP n Julia Gabriel bilingual prog...2 wkdays off n wkend free...tink white space for kiddos is precious lar...don believe in cramming... Hope this helps e moms in search of enrichment for kids... |

We, at the National University of Singapore (NUS), are interested in understanding how babies learn their first words. In particular, this study is on bilingualism in children. If your baby is 31 months old you’re interested in participating in our research, we would be very happy to hear from you! What should I expect? Your baby will sit on your lap and listen to a set of words accompanied by pictures. We will be interested in the pictures that your child looks at in response to the words. We will also have you fill out a questionnaire on your child’s language history which will take you about 5 to 10 minutes. Yes, it’s really that simple! How will my baby and I benefit? At no cost, we will do an assessment of your child’s vocabulary development using standardized assessment instruments. Receive $20 for your child’s participation in this study. Your travel expenses to and fro the Infant Language Centre at NUS will also be reimbursed. If this sounds interesting and simple enough, feel free to contact us! Sign up on our website at http://blog.nus.edu.sg/babytalk/enquiries. You may contact Ms. Calista Chan by email (psycjc@nus.edu.sg) or by phone at 6601 1718. If you’d like to find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information, we will be happy to assist you. Visit us at http://blog.nus.edu.sg/babytalk to find out more! |

Hi Ca-Mum, There are 2 parts to the session. The video session where we conduct our study will last approximately 10-15 minutes. The session is designed for children and as mentioned, your child will be on your lap while watching the videos. On top of that, parents have the option of doing a language assessment where you will get an idea of your child's language dominance in English/Mandarin. This part of the session will last about 30-40 minutes. All in all, we would cater about an hour to 1.5 hours (just in case we need to take breaks) for each session. Feel free to contact us if you have any other enquiries! Look forward to hearing from you. |

Hi, I would like to join this posting as i have a girl born in March 2010 also.. Actually i have a concern and would like to seek advice. It's about speech progress.. my girl now 21 months doesn't speak alot of words.. her vocab at this point of time is about 15 words at most and all single words. some words she say only one time and dun used already. I am still trying to get her to say "YES" but she still not saying or refuse to say... Is this normal? Cos' my older boy can speak alot by this age. My colleagues daughter about same age now also speak in sentence already. I asked PD he say monitor till she's 2 years old then see if need to go to speech therapist... I'm not sure... should i wait or should i go to bring her see the therapist now? My in-laws thinks that some children are just slower.... Any comments or advise would be much appreciated. |

Hi Lucida, I don't think that's a problem. My gal also only mumble few single words when she's ur gal age. I remember when she join a weekend enrichment class at 24 mths, she can't even take the instruction from teacher, she just play by herself. But out of a sudden after 2 years and 4 mths, she can speak fine sentences. I figure out that previously, she could have already knew many words and kept in her brain, and she speaks only when she wants to. I teach my gal phonics lesson once a week, she can spell and read simple word now. Picking up new words also seem to be easy for her. I see great transition of her comparing now and when I first taught her the lesson when she's 2yrs 4 mths. I documented in my blog and if you're interested to see you may click here |

Hi Lucida, I'm a working mother many think that I'm very hardworking, but frankly I'm a lazy mom and day time my kids are with babysitter, I only have around 2 hours each day (weekday) with my kids I'm not those very hardworking mother that will flash cards or read to the kids often, I let my kids learn through playing. I only teach my girl (2 years 8 mths now) a phonics lesson once a week, and she attends 1 hour enrichment class every sat just for fun. I think learning with kids is very enjoyable, only the mother knows how well is the kid and whether he progresses. When my girl still can't recognise A-Z, many of my friends' kids who are younger than her already knew that. But i'm not worry about it, I just let her play the ABC magnets, and now she speaks much better than those kids. Many times you'll hear friends recommend or suggest to you wat to do or wat to teach ur kids, for me i'll take those good advice but I won't follow all of them. E.g. my friend told me I should send my girl to Sichida to train her memory and who and who can memorise thousands words after attended Sichida.... To me, memorising thousands words is not a big deal, instead of letting the kids memorise something meaningless, I prefer to groom their creativity and interest. Talk to your girl more (which I also need to improve on, ha), she'll impress you one day, just a matter of time, don't worry! |

As a working mother, we have lesser time with the kids, so after work all my time are devoted to my kids. When i accompany my kids, we play, read, watch Children DVDs, and NOT watching adult drama. We spend more quality time together |

Hi all, just wanna recommend my mother in law, a professional, who has more than 20yrs experience in teaching piano, and most of her students passes with flying colors.. Becos half of her students had just graduated, therefore she's looking for new students to fill in.. she's late 50s, english speaking, Chinese also not a problem. She teaches adults too.. Reasonably charges for her professional level.. Age 3 and above can start learning already.. best age is 4, though my sis in law is talented, therefore she started at 3.. Please pm mi for her contacts if u are interested, only sincere ones thanks... GOD BLESS! |
